Community

Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation WarmĀ® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.

These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and our retailers will have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need so far.

Through our partnership with LLS, we've supported nearly 350,000 cancer patients nationwide. We're proud to be LLS's largest automotive donor.

Above and beyond

This past Friday (3/14/25), my wife and I were travelling from the middle of MN to Sioux Falls to hear the SDSO St. Patrick's Day concert. During the evening of running around, the dash on our '19 Forester lit up like a Christmas tree, 250 miles from home. We stopped at an O'Reilly's and asked them to attach their scan tool. A "too lien" error was present and the canned solution was to replace the ECM. Friday night. Weekend. Away from home. Back to work on Monday. I could see that the Schulte Subaro service department was closed on Saturday, but I went anyway, hoping someone would tell me "ya, you're OK to drive home, just get it checked then". Sales person Mike Weber greeted me and asked what I needed. I explained. He grimaced - the shop was closed, no techs present. We chatted some more, and Mike brought me over to to Ethan Munson, their sales manager, for more guidance. He looked at the scan tool print out and was puzzled by such a strange error. He asked to bring the car into the shop, and he took a quick look. As it turned out, a hose had a massive air leak - a hose that they learned, after general manager Jason Hanson opened up the parts room, was not in stock. Now what? "Hey, there's a loaner Forester over there. Let's take its OEM hose and put it on his car, test drive it to make sure it's working, clear the codes, send him on his way, oh, and let's not charge him anything either." Making a profit is important to keep the doors open, but making lasting customers is the long game. They did not need to do this, but they wanted to, and we appreciated it very much. Thank you Mike Weber, Ethan Munson, and Jason Hanson!

Schulte Subaru Keeps the Community Warm

The bitter cold can be particularly harsh for people experiencing homelessness. Last year, the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House and Center for Families Served over 2,000 unhoused individuals, including men, women, families and children. Whether it is walking to work, picking up the kids from school, or taking the bus across town for healthcare, the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House guests often have to face the cold. Thanks to Schulte Subaru and their customers, our guests do not have to face the cold without proper protection. Coats and warm winter gear were donated and distributed to guests at a much needed time, A big thank you to Schulte Subaru and their customers for giving back to their community.

Subaru's gift of warm to Hawthorne.

Hawthorne Elementary extends its sincere appreciation to Schulte Subaru for their commitment and generosity. Their ongoing collection of children's coats has provided our students with the essential gift of warmth and comfort throughout the winter season. With the support of their staff, customers, and community members, many students have experienced a season filled with kindness and care.

Subaru Loves to Help - Sioux Falls edition

Children's Home Shelter for Family Safety is a 24-hour emergency domestic violence shelter. We serve victims of domestic violence and child abuse or neglect. Many of the children and families we serve come to our facility with very few of their own things. Meeting the basic needs of our guests is a BIG task, but it's one that is made easier by friends like Schulte Subaru. We received a healthy supply of children's coats and we are incredibly grateful for the support received from Subaru and Operation Warm. Thank you!

Schulte Subaru Employees Rally Around Teammate

At Schulte Subaru, our team is more than coworkers- we're family. When Jazzy, a valued service team member, was seriously injured in a car accident on her way to work and faced months off work, her Schulte Subaru family stepped up in a big way. Employees from every department came together to raise an incredible $6500 to support Jazzy during her recovery. Their generosity showcased the deep care and camaraderie that defines our workplace. "Jazzy has always been there for us; now its our turn to be there for her," shared one teammate. Overwhelmed by the suppoer, Jazzy expressed her gratitude: "It means the world to know I have such amazing people in my corner" Moments like these remind all of us that at Schulte Subaru, we're not just a team--we're family!

Customer service above and beyond

I was scheduled to have the rock chip coating put on my car the 5th of Nov. Then my Grandmother was put in the hospital on hospice that weekend and I had many things to deal with relating to her care. I called my salesman, Ethan Sachen, to let him know I was going to have to reschedule. As I work 5 days a week and live almost 3 hrs away, this is not easy! He immediately offered to have someone come and pick up my car from my home town, bring me a loaner and take the car to Sioux Falls for the scheduled work. I was very impressed with their customer service department. They kept me informed on the status of my car and even sent me a card offering sympathy for my situation. This was very much appreciated! Thank you, Tina
